Obituary for John L. Ford

John L. Ford, a resident of Hartland, formerly of Milford and Farmington, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the age of 87.

John was born in Calumet, Michigan on December 28, 1926. Since the early 1960's, John had lived on Sears Lake, later converting trading family cottage for his permanent home next door which he lived in for the past 20 years along with his wife, Anelma, John especially enjoyed spending time at Kensington Metro Park in Milford. He was a true family man who believed in making quality time from any occasion in the company of those he loved. John stayed very active throughout life. He made his career as a painter in the Automotive field, and later became a hospital maintenance man. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone at any time. His family recalls the time when he quit his job so a colleague with a young family wouldn't get laid off, or when he put new tires on his car to donate it to a neighbor who couldn't afford one.

John loved his family. Even in his last days and hours being around his kids, granddaughters and great-granddaughters gave him peace. Just one week prior to his death, he was watching Mickey Mouse with his great-granddaughter, singing songs and living life, no matter what adversities he faced.

In addition to his beloved wife, Anelma and their children, Mike (Shelia), Steve (Michele), Leslie (Mark) Kanny, John is survived by his granddaughters, Christina (Ryan) Respondek, Stephanie (Tom) Ford, Jackie (Ryan) Gould, Janelle (Jason) Ford, Kimm (Dexter) Dakins, Kass Ford, Nicole Kanny, Amanda (Jesse) Yuchasz, Jay (Chris) Derisley, Karly Kanny; great-granddaughters, Emmerson, Adelynn, Alexia, Amelia; extended family members and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Wednesday, February 12 at 11 AM. Pastor Martin Dressler will officiate. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Memorials encouraged to Wounded Warrior Project. For further information please contact Lynch & Sons 248-684-6645.
