Obituary for Joyce Ann Fagerland
Joyce Ann Fagerland, a resident of New Hudson, went to heaven peacefully on Sunday morning with her family by her side, after a courageous fight with Glioblastoma.
Joyce leaves behind her beloved husband of forty-one years, Darrell; her daughters, Dawn (Matthew) Motley and Jennifer (Joel) Roberts; grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, Elizabeth and Ashlyn.
Joyce is the eldest daughter of Andy and the late Marion Parratto; sister of Larry (Virginia) Parratto, Bev (Ed) Krahn, Sandy (Kurt) Hall, and leaves several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
Joyce was born on April 19, 1953 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and was a 1971 graduate of Thurston High School in Redford. In 1995 she graduated from Eastern Michigan University with her degree in education.
She was a most cherished second grade teacher at Our Lady of Sorrows in Farmington and at St. Patrick Catholic School in Brighton. Her love of teaching has touched countless children over almost twenty years. She didn’t just teach her amazing students, she loved and cared for every single one, and remained close with many families throughout the years.
The love of her family was the most important thing to her. She was the most adoring mother to her daughters, considered her sons-in-law to be her own, and cherished her grandchildren who each had their own name for her. To Andrew and Elizabeth she was Gaga. To Emma and Ashlyn she was Mena. No four children could be adored more. The love of her life since high school, Darrell was her everything, and they took good care of each other through their illnesses.
Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, Wednesday, June 22, from 2-9PM, with a Vigil Service at 7PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford, on Thursday, June 23, at 11AM with Msgr. John Budde officiating.
