Eduardo Altuna, Jr., a resident of Hartland Township and a former resident of White Lake Township and Highland passed from this life on August 21, 2011, at the age of 67.
Born on January 5, 1944 in Lordsburg, New Mexico, he was the son of Eduardo and Damiana Diaz Altuna and spent his early years in New Mexico. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. When he returned from war he attended the University of Michigan and trained at Harper Grace Hospital where he became a CRNA. He worked for many years as Director of Anesthesia at Providence Hospital in Southfield, before beginning his own company, Office Anesthesia Services. In recent years he enjoyed operating Its A Grind Coffee Shop in Highland.
It was at Providence Hospital that he met his wife Brenda. They fell in love and married in 1986, making their home in White Lake Township, later Highland, and most recently Hartland Township.
It was easy to admire Ed. He was always beaming, happy, and had an infectious personality and charisma. He was patient, giving, and always saw the best in people. In his spare time he enjoyed his photography, the best of which showed his ability to capture people in the most candid moments. To his family, he most enjoyed the role of Mr. Mom and his role as a devoted husband and father.
In addition to Brenda, his beloved wife of twenty-six years, he leaves his children, Edward Jude Altuna, Dedra (Chuck) Harding, Marcos Eduardo (Jenny) Altuna, K.C. Lynne Altuna, Carlos Eduardo Altuna, Alex Eduardo Altuna; five grandchildren, a sister, Diana Cosney, a niece, Seandra (Scott) Wilson and many dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, on Wednesday, August 24, at 1PM. Friends may visit Wednesday 11AM until time of service. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
