Obituary for Jr. Henry M. Frick

Henry M. Frick, Jr., a resident of Hartland Twp., and former long time resident of Dearborn Heights, died at his home in the care of his family on February 3, 2013 at the age of 91.

Henry was born on November 26, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Henry Matthew Frick and Elsie Ann Bittinger Frick. He grew up in Detroit, and after high school was drafted into service with the U.S. Army. When he returned from war, he studied at the University of Detroit and later at the University of Michigan as he began his career with the Internal Revenue Service. He went on to work as an auditor with the IRS for nearly thirty years, retiring in 1980.

On August 13, 1949 he married Virginia Ginn, whom he had met during his time in the military. After their marriage in Miami, Florida, they moved back to Dearborn Heights, where they made their home for many years, raised their family and were active members of Our Lady of Grace Parish. In retirement, he worked with the Marian Hill Missionaries and was a manager at Leaves magazine in Dearborn Heights, where his wife and daughters worked as well. They later enjoyed an abundance of travel around the U.S. and Canada, moved to Ocala, Florida and spent sixteen wonderful years there before moving back to Michigan to live with their daughter, Theresa two-and-a-half years ago.

Ever important to Henry was his religion and his family. His prayer and blessing was the start to every family gathering and vacation they enjoyed together. He loved ALL sports and could often be found with a couple televisions or multiple radios as he followed the days sporting events, and which could be made all the better with chocolate, a banana split, a thick steak or a highball.

He is survived by Virginia, his beloved wife of over sixty-three years; his children, Cathy (Bill) Parsons, Mary (Bob) Frick-Muszynski, Pat (Paul) Busch, Joe (Jane) Frick, Janet (Mike) Patra, Theresa (Bill) Griffore and Joan (Mike) Mardeusz; grandchildren, Cathy, Anamarie, and Cletus Parsons, Paul (Jackie), Jenny, and Melissa Gariepy, Dr. Carrie (Dr. Jason) Ricci, Erin (Keith) Barron, Lisa Busch, Carrie (Joe) Northrup, Stacy, Joey, Jessie, Jacob, Jamie, and Linda Frick, Lindsey (Chris) Respondek, Beth, Kevin, Matthew, Allison, and Katelyn Patra, Billy (Angela) Griffore, Vicki (Mike) Mundinger, Stephanie (fiancee Jeremy LaFave) Gariepy, Brandy Griffore, Katie (Chris) Campbell, Tony Griffore, and Roxy Griffore, Amanda (Tyler) Selesky, and Spec.
