Obituary for Jr. Stanley A. Stonik

Stanley A. Stonik, Jr., a resident of Belleville, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 9, 2009. He was 57 years old. Born in Detroit on November 2, 1951, the son of Stanley & Virginia Stonik, Stanley grew up in Detroit and graduated from St. Florian High School in Hamtramck. Following graduation, he began his study through trade school to begin his career as a mechanical engineering draftsman. He made his home in Belleville for over 30 years and enjoyed entertaining visits from his sisters and other family members, always having a pitcher of iced tea ready for company. A third degree Knight with council #8113, he was proud of his activity with the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed attending St. Joseph Church, his home Parish in Belleville.

Stanley was a loving and caring man. His uncanny sense of recall for trivia, names and dates made him well suited to maintain record of his familys lineage and family tree. He enjoyed the company of his 12 cats, gardening, learning about famous ship history-especially the Titanic and loved Polish music, crossword puzzles and westerns. Once the proud owner of a 51 Chevy, Stan, like all car enthusiasts, got revved up at the site of a classic automobile. Strong-willed, yet faithful, he adored the Blessed Mother and prayed the Rosary regularly. He will be be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and for his great fidelity to God and family.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley & Virginia Stonik, Sr.

In addition to his beloved sisters, Mary Ann (Kevin) Hamilton of Highland, Katherine (Paul) Alflen of Highland, he is survived by his nephews, Jason (Christina) Hamilton, Justen Hamilton; numerous extended family members and dear friends.
