Obituary for Keith Iverson

Keith Iverson, a long time resident of Hartland, died at his home on August 7th, 2010 of heart failure. He was 63 years old.
Keith was born on November 25, 1946 to Clifford and Rachel Iverson in Fargo, North Dakota. After moving to Michigan, the Iversons founded the White Lake Lumber Company on Ormond Road in 1950. When Keith was young, his mother died tragically in a car accident. Keith and his dad took good care of each other and worked the family business together from the time Keith was eight years old. Several years later Clifford married Winifred Mason. When his dad died in 1976, Keith, then twenty-seven, took over the lumber yard and moved the thriving business to Milford. At Iverson Lumber, Keith did not consider himself the owner, or the people he worked with his "employees, rather, they were his family, his soldiers. He was ever organized, a workaholic, and he was forever crunching numbers to keep and take care of as many of his soldiers as he could. Respected and caring, Keith had a nickname for everyone, "gave you one when he first met you". Keith consolidated the Milford store at the Highland locations in March of 2009, Iverson's Drywall Supply and Iverson's Architectual Design located side by side on Milford Road in Highland. Keith also purchased a lumberyard in Montrose, formerly the Furstenberg Lumber Company and partnered with Larry Markey to open Pine Tech Mill in Lake City.

A great storyteller, the funny side of Keith wanted to make everyone laugh. He had a heart of gold, loved his kids, and fiercely loved his grandkids to whom he was Gramps and Papa. He has enjoyed family and friends on Long Lake for over twenty-six years.

He is survived by his son, Todd (Nicole) Iverson and his daughter, Amy (Jason) Iverson Corbin and their mother, Catherine Campbell; grandchildren, Jakob Scott Corbin, Kennedy Bella Grace, Hayden Jayne, and Paige Nicole Iverson, and his sweetheart, Sharon King and her family. He also leaves his "uncle" Tillie McNeil, his Iverson family, and many, many dear friends and associates.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Iverson, his mother, Rachel Iverson, and step-mother, Winifred.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, on Wednesday, August 11, at 12 Noon with Adam ODonnell officiating. Friends may visit Tuesday 1-9PM and Wednesday 10AM until the time of service. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Michigan.
