Obituary for Kelley Patrick Doherty

Kelley Patrick Doherty of West Bloomfield passed away peacefully on February 5, 2021. He was 62 years old.

Kelley was a bright light to everyone he met. A man of many words, he always made sure to be a phone call away to anyone. A voice to talk to. A listener. A friend. He was the best father, truly. The fun dad who was active in our lives. His entire world revolved around his three daughters and their lives. He always cared about others, meeting the needs of other people before himself.

Kelley spent much of his life with his loving fiancée and life companion, Maryellen. King of the dad jokes, he made sure you were always laughing with him.

His goal in life was to always make sure the people around him were happy. He never met a soul without a smile on his face. His heart was so full of love to give. In every job he had, he would always strive to be the top salesman, which he achieved often throughout his career. He volunteered often for Habitat for Humanity Oakland & Detroit Counties. He was a part of AUSA and NDIA National Defense Industry Association.

Kelley was brought up in Portland, Michigan. He attended St. Patrick School, Portland High School, and Michigan State University. He graduated from Oakland University with a BA in Sales & Marketing. He was a golf enthusiast, big time jogger, and loved long walks. He loved his two cats, Alex and Arlo, his grandcats, Kim and Kanye, and his dog Murphy.

Kelley is survived by his beloved fiancée and life companion, Maryellen Clinton; his loving daughters, Eva Doherty, Julia Doherty and Olivia Doherty; siblings, Michael (Sharon) Doherty, Patricia Rollins, John Doherty, Heidi Doherty, Tom (Kim) Doherty, Casey Doherty, Kathleen "Kate"(Alan) Lee and Colleen "Kit" (Bob) Husic. Also survived by many loving extended family and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 404 E. Liberty St. Milford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity Detroit, 14325 Jane Ave. Detroit, MI 48205.
