Obituary for Kenneth Andrew Pickl II

Kenneth A. Pickl II died peacefully on October 16, 2017.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Kenneth and his sister Karen Ann Pickl. He is survived by his wife, Margo, his brother, Dennis Pickl and his three children, Carrie (Carl) McKissic, Brian (Kristen) Pickl and Maria (Troy) Stieve and eight grandchildren, Cassidy, Gabrielle, Emily and Riley McKissic, Ashley, Alivia and Alden Pickl and Maddax Stieve.

Ken was born in Detroit on March 5, 1943, the son of Marian and Kenneth Pickl, a proud United States Serviceman. Ken lived in many states before his family settled in Michigan in 1948. He lived in Detroit before moving to Highland in 1973.

Ken loved being outdoors and spent almost every weekend at his home on Walloon Lake in Northern Michigan, teaching his children the fine art’s of skiing, hunting, fishing and simply relaxing. He also loved his pets, especially his many dogs.

In 1974, Ken founded and grew a successful business. He was a mentor to many of his employees, a leader to others, but a friend to all. Ken always had an open door policy and coupled that with an open heart.
