Obituary for Kevin Croteau

Kevin Paul Croteau, age 16, a resident of White Lake Township passed peacefully in his sleep June 21, 2020 from complications related to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

He is survived by his parents, Colleen Croteau and Timothy Croteau, his sister, Keegan Croteau, and grandmother, Sharon Croteau.  Kevin was loved and will be greatly missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins who enjoyed his sense of humor, always making them laugh when least expected.  Kevin also will be missed by his beloved dogs, Sky and Toby.

He enjoyed spending time with the neighbors and friends at bonfires and Sunday pool parties. He was an avid online gamer on his PC or Xbox and was usually on-line gaming with friends when he wasn't working on his schoolwork.  Kevin and his friend, Mason, made a “man cave” XBOX hang out in a backyard shed that Kevin could easily get in and out of.

Kevin attended Huron Valley Schools (Lakewood Elementary, White Lake Middle School and Lakeland High School), where he excelled academically and had been on the Honor Roll every term since 6th grade. He was proud of his high grades and worked hard to obtain them.   His teachers loved his wonderful smile and his famous eye rolls.  He wore this Hump day Camel shirt on many Wednesdays, making everyone laugh.  Always such a hard worker and inspiration to his classmates.  His classmates enjoyed working with him because he always had good ideas for projects, encouraging working hard and having fun at the same time.  He was creative and loved art and science.

Kevin had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and always looked forward to going to MDA camp every summer where he was loved by the counselors there. He was continually positive and a pleasure to be around.  He engaged in all the camp activities and worked extremely hard through many difficulties and obstacles.

Kevin never complained, was sweet, kind, had a wonderful smile and was confident.

He will be dearly missed.

A private Memorial Service will be held on July 18, 2020.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 950 Stephenson Hwy #209, Troy, MI 48083
