Obituary for Kristie Fader

Kristie Fader, age 49 and a resident of Highland Township, breathed her last breath on July 5, 2020 at the end of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at her parent's home.

Kristie was born at Mount Carmel Hospital, Detroit, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1970.  She had a sweet and affectionate disposition and always wanted to please.  Every year Kristie would attend a special one week summer camp in Lexington, MI sponsored by VAD (volunteers assisting the disabled).  It was the highlight of her year. After mom and dad divorced it was discovered that her mom, sister Barbara, and Kristie had Muscular Dystrophy.  None of them complained about it and adjusted to their state in life.  After dad remarried, his wife Jeanne took both girls to their many medical appointments and assisted in all their needs.  When both girls were in their late teens, dad finally got custody of both his girls and their life was better.  However Kristie wanted to exert her independence and moved to a semi-independent home.  This worked till her health got worse and then she moved back with her dad and step-mom. While living with us, she went to work at New Horizons Rehab where she experienced many friendships. When her health decreased it was necessary to move to Westlake Health Campus, Commerce Twp. where she was very happy and well taken care of, till her final days.  Wherever Kristie was at, everyone loved her.

Kristie was a young woman of deep faith.  She cherished the Sacrament of Holy Communion, and prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and her Rosary daily.  She helped lead the Rosary at Westlake Health Campus where she lived for the past two-and-a-half years and where she enjoyed many dear friends with  residents and staff.  These included nurses Alex and Eveline, Michelle Baker, SLP, PT assistants 'Angie 1' and 'Angie 2’, and special friends Sharon Hensley, Emmanuel Najor and Helen Y.  She loved Bingo and numerous activities offered there and helping people at Westlake who needed assistance.

Kristie loved her family dearly.  Her devoted parents, Danny and Jeanne Fader, her brother, Daniel (Lisa) Fader and her niece Trinity and nephew Gianni, her sister, Barbara whom she lost in 2009, her boyfriend of 20 years, Tom Strauss, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends who all give thanks to God for her life among them.

A *private visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Thursday, July 9th. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, on Friday, July 10, at 11AM. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Memorials may be made in Kristie’s name to Men of the Sacred Heart, PO Box 1025, Warren, MI 48090 or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 950 Stephenson Highway, #209 Troy, MI 48083.
