Obituary for Laura Susan Robinson

Laura Susan Robinson, of Milford and formerly of Naples, FL. died on Monday, October 27, 2008 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was 41 years old. Born in Detroit on October 12, 1967, the daughter of Wayne & Barbara Robinson, Laura enjoyed traveling with her family and seeing many parts of the world as young girl. She became a certified diver and enjoyed diving during her travels. She grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School in 1985 where she excelled within the band program. Following graduation, she pursued her longtime hopes to become a Chef and later received her AOS in Culinary Arts from Oakland Community College. Showing the expertise of a seasoned chef early in her career, she won a bronze medal while she was at OCC. She quickly found work with several of Michigan's finer establishments including Oakland Hills Country Club, the Sheraton, the Detroit Athletic Club and the Pier in Harbor Springs. Laura's love for travel mixed well in her career she held the position of Executive Sous Chef at Marco Beach Hilton, FL. Through the NCLA, she accepted a chef position aboard their cruise ship The Pride of Hawaii and also earned her merchant marine. She was a member of the American Culinary Federation and was a wonderful advisor to students who were hoping to pursue careers in classical cooking. She also loved the theatre, growing orchids and the occasions to spend time with family and friends. Like greater chefs in the field of fine cuisine, Laura knew how to cook with her heart and soul, but beyond any one of her secret recipes, her personality, charm and special smile were the real ingredients that made her such a wonderful person.
In addition to her loving parents, Wayne & Barbara Robinson, Laura is survived by her sister, Christine (Phillip) St. George; brother, Wayne Robinson; nephews, David (Megan) Noonan, Michael (Jenn) Noonan, Jason (Amanda) Robinson, Gregory Robinson; 1 great niece and 4 great nephews. Her uncles, John (Penny) Hough, Claude (Marion) Robinson and many dear friends and colleagues also survive.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford on Thursday, October 30th 2008 at 11AM with Fr. Ron Anderson officiating. Friends may gather at the Church at 10:30AM. Memorials may be made in Laura's name to the American Culinary Federation, MCCA Scholarship Fund, 5135 Lisch Drive, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189-9774.
