Obituary for Lawrence Dildine

Lawrence “Larry” Edwin Dildine, a resident of Howell, died unexpectedly at home on October 24, 2016 at the age of 66.

Lawrence Dildine was born in Detroit on January 6,1950 and was raised in southeast Michigan. Larry and his wife Kathleen were married in 1972 and raised their family in the Westland community before moving to Howell in 1993.

He worked at Ford for 30 years before retiring in the year 2000. While working at Ford, he started as line worker and rose in the ranks. Larry’s personal passions included his award winning 1964 Riviera with a black cherry exterior and fire red interior. It was said that it took him 32 paint samples to choose the color of the exterior. He was a guy who knew what he liked! His Riviera, it was the 5th googled image at one point in time. He was known as a car guy and also loved his Harley Davidson. Larry loved the outdoors, hunting deer and fishing salmon on Lake Michigan and the all state’s rivers.

Nothing could compare to his love for his grandchildren. His family expressed how much he loved to play and be around them. Larry was known for his good sense of humor, and didn’t take himself too seriously. He had famous quotes that he was very known for with his family which were “Not to change the subject, but…” and “I’m sorry—did the middle of my conversation interrupt the beginning of yours?” He had a good sense of humor and didn’t take himself too seriously while always commanding the conversation. Larry will be missed by family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Elizabeth Dildine; and sister Leslie Iafrate.

Larry is survived by his wife of 44 years Kathleen Dildine; children, Kari (Eric) Bigelow, Bradley (Tina) Dildine, Andrew (Jessica) Dildine; grandchildren, Mackenzie Bigelow, Trey Dildine and Andrew Dildine; sister LaVerne Clynick.
