Obituary for Lawrence R. Fournier

Lawrence Richard Fournier, a resident of Highland for over fifty-two years, went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2008. He was 79 years old.
He is survived by Virginia, his beloved wife of over fifty-nine years; his daughter, Vivian Compeau of Waterford; sons, Greg (Rosemary) Fournier of Saginaw, David (Denise) Fournier of Waterford; grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew, Matt, Sara, Amanda, Laura, Katie, Jacob, and Larry; great granddaughter, Morgan, and a sister, Bernice Grant. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Campbell.
Born on April 22nd, 1929 in Lapeer, Michigan, Larry grew up in Pontiac where he was a graduate of St. Michaels School and met Virginia. They began dating as Juniors at the school, and were married on September 10, 1949. They lived for fifty-two years at their home on Harvey Lake Road where they raised their family and ran Larry Fournier Heating together for thirty-five years. Larry was capable of fixing anything, ever a great handyman, and could build anything he put his mind to. His family will always remember his go-carts, and his love of woodworking which has decorated their home with arbors, window boxes, bird feeders and many other carvings he produced over the years. The birds held a special place in Larrys life. It was important, as well as enjoyable to him to see the birds fed, and well cared for.
Larrys talents didnt end in the workshop. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ, for which he had no formal training, and had the ability to replicate any song he listened too, with favorites including Goodnight Irene and Red River Rock.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3700 N. Harvey Lake Rd., Highland, on Tuesday, October 7th, at 10AM. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit one hour prior at the church on Tuesday and at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Monday 4-8PM. A Scripture Service will be held Monday at 7PM. Memorials may be made to the Fournier family. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
