Lenora Irene Miller of New Hudson died in the loving care of her family June 4, 2011. She was 87 years old.
Born February 2, 1924 in Palmer, Michigan, Lenora was the third of seven children born to parents Albert and Juanita (nee. Hurst) Anderson. Lenoras family left the Upper Peninsula and came downstate to the Romulus area where she attended Melvindale High School.
The young Hawk Miller had left the family cotton farm in Alabama for a career in the Motor City in the automotive industry. It is here that he met and fell in love with the beautiful Lenora Anderson. Lenora graduated from Melvindale High in June of 1942 and in September, Hawk and Lenora were married. The couple was blessed by the births of their children Cheryl, Bonnie and Kenny. Lenora and Hawk raised their family in various Michigan towns. Lenora spent her days as a devote wife and loving mother. Often the peacemaker, Lenoras grace was ever-present in the family home.
Lenoras career was driven by her talents as an artist and a seamstress. She could paint on any medium from furniture to canvas but she was especially good with ceramic. For a time, she led classes and ceramic workshops. Lenora often made custom draperies and pillows as special orders.
Survived by Hawk her beloved husband of nearly 70 years; daughters Cheryl (and the late Allen) and the late Bonnie Jean, son Kenny Kay (Kristen Lee) Miller and son-in-law Edward Jean (Mary Ann) Rye; grandchildren Scott Edward (Maura Lee), Alan Wesley (Robin Jean), Christopher Shawn (Hunny), Matthew Gerard (Heather Anne), Kevin Wesley, Stephen Keith; great-grandchildren Alexander Jean, Abigail Leigh, Nicholas Robert, Aedan Matthew, Anna Elizabeth; siblings Orvil Anderson, Muriel Calhoun, Berta Mae Desomitz, Gerry Anderson and the late Mavis also extended family members and a host of dear friends.
