Linda Marlene Booth, of Milford, Michigan, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, surrounded by her family at the age of 80.
Linda was a true matriarch, loved her family and gave of herself to others throughout her life.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 29, 1942 to the late Paul and May Booth. She was inspired by her mother, who was born to deaf parents but hearing herself, and started a service for others by interpreting for the deaf. Linda got her undergrad from Wayne State University in Detroit and furthered her education by obtaining her master’s in Education from Michigan State University. She taught for a while at Oakland Community College before taking over the business her mom had created in 1993, Deaf & Hearing Interpreting Services (DHIS).
Linda ran the family business right up until the time of her passing. She worked for many years as an interpreter herself. She had an incredible work ethic and people knew they could depend on her. She was generous, kind to all she met, and never judged. She also believed in second chances.
In her free time, she loved being with her family. She started playing golf at age 50, fell in love with it, and joined a ladies league making great friends along the way. She enjoyed the outdoors, taking peaceful drives through the Kensington Metro Park, or being up north hunting. Whatever she was doing, she looked amazing, and she gave it everything she had. She was also very proud of her children and grandchildren having instilled the value of family in them. She will be greatly missed by all who crossed her path.
Loving mother of Louise Barlett (Darryl), Melissa Kizer (David), and Lora Ramfos (Greg). Devoted grandmother of Dara Strautz (Tom), Joey Barlett, Sean Barlett, Jessica Malek (Justin), Erik Kizer (Erica), Cole Ramfos, and Tori Ramfos. Proud great-grandmother of Kaden Kizer and Decker Strautz. Dear sister of Jolene Nicholas (Bill) and Ron Booth (Joan). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 10:00am until the time of her Celebration of Life at 11:00am at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 404 E. Liberty St. Milford, MI 48381.
