Obituary for Loretta Jean Hochstein

Loretta Jean Hochstein, of Commerce, passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2020. She was 63 years old.

Family meant everything to Loretta. She will be remembered for the love she had for her “boys” and her “grand babies”. She always knew how to make everyone feel special and was known for her generosity, which was “unmatched” by anyone, with Christmas being her favorite holiday replete with many special traditions carried on from her childhood. Even through the devastating loss of her sister in 2001, she continued with the McCray Family Christmas traditions.

Loretta loved attending sporting events with her husband and they were dedicated season ticket holders for Michigan football and basketball, the Detroit Red Wings, Pistons, Tigers, and most recently the Detroit Lions.

A devout and spiritual Catholic, Loretta attended Mass regularly and her incredible faith gave her the strength to fight during her twelve years of illness. Her family will always recognize and remember her strength and perseverance and continue that legacy for generations to come.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, Kenneth J. Hochstein; children, Brett (Lisa) Hochstein, and Kevin (Danielle) Hochstein; grandchildren, Brayden and Lily Hochstein; siblings, James (Grace) McCray, Brian (Cari) McCray, Larry (Merry) McCray, Ilene (Sam) Coppola, Sharon (the late Dan) Prais and Kimberly Ance; also many extended family and dear friends.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rita McCray; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ruddy Pittaway; sisters, Linda Williams, and Kathy Helms; brother-in-law, Michael Ance.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake, MI 48386, on Thursday, December 3rd, at 11AM. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
