Obituary for Louis H. "Bud" Conrad

Louis H. “Bud” Conrad, a resident of Commerce Township, and owner of B.C. Manufacturing Company in Wixom, died on August 7, 2016, at the age of 71.

On May 25, 1945, in San Gabriel, California, a wonderful person was born to Russell and Esther (Tuger) Conrad.Bud and his four siblings grew up in Michigan, where he graduated from Farmington High School and later attended Lawrence Technological University. Bud loved sports cars, especially Corvettes, from a very young age. He traveled across the country with the Royal Pontiac Racing team for many years. Bud was fiercely independent and private, which his brilliant mind allowed him to be—he was a proud and gifted engineer who could design and make anything, On May 1, 1965, Bud and Eileen Page were married; throughout fifty one years of marriage, their love for one another was endless. Bud and Eileen built their first home in Commerce Township in 1967 and were blessed with two daughters. Although Bud's life revolved around family, he was a natural businessman with outstanding success. In 1981, he opened B.C Manufacturing which is located in Wixom and created precision parts and prototypes among other things. For over thirty years, Bud saw his business through recessions and hardships, and was able to survive and overcome any obstacles that came his way. He always seemed to know the right thing to do at the appropriate time. All who knew him appreciated his sharp wit and wry sense of humor. He had a generous and loving spirit that was endless, any one who new him was touched by this.

He leaves Eileen, his beloved wife of over fifty-one years; his daughters, Kathleen (Kevin) Zaske and Karen (Steve) Ballentine; grandchildren, Veronica Page Zaske, Conrad Joseph Ballentine and Elizabeth Summer Ballentine; brothers, Ken and Donald; sister, Carol Wakerly; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Shirey, Michael Page, Patricia (Max) Rieger, Sheila (Steve) Grainger, Margaret (Richard) Ulrey and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Conrad.
