Louis Jacob Liedel, a resident of Milford and former resident of Redford, Michigan died in the care of his family on June 30, 2016. He was 95 years old.
Louis was born on July 15, 1920 in Maybee, Michigan, one of nine children born to Martin and Julia Eby Liedel. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and worked as a mechanic throughout his life. He could help fix anything, and enjoyed making special wooden crafts and gifts for friends and family, including wood crosses, whirly-gigs, grandmother clocks and birdhouses crafted to the likenesses of their family homes. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, his summer home in Brighton, and writing and recording music on his guitar and harmonica. He was ever quiet and reserved and it was always a perfect complement to his wife Frances’ outgoing ways, and he’d missed her dearly these last six years. He will forever be remembered as observant, loving, caring and giving, and he will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by Frances, his beloved wife of 63 years, in 2010, his daughter, Marie Touchette and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by children, Marcia (Garrett) Steele, Larry (Cheryl) Liedel, Monica McGuire & Audrey (Dominic) Marsalese; eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren, with two on the way.
