Obituary for Lucille Marie Smith

Lucille Marie Smith, 83, beloved wife of the late Charles, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2021.

Lucille was born on June 5, 1938 in Washington, D.C. to the late George and Sylvia Leitz. Her family lived in Capital Heights, Maryland before moving to Detroit where she graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit. She married Charles Smith on June 26, 1965 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two children and five grandchildren.

She worked for Detroit Edison for over 30 years as a data processor. In her free time, Lucille was an amazing cook. She enjoyed crocheting, making many doilies for family and friends. She also loved to sell them at craft shows and even took first place at the Wyandotte Street Fair one year.

One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother. She never missed a sporting event, and was always a loving and caring grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Loving mother of Lisa Cornish (Mark Benson) and Charles W.H. Smith “Chip”. Proud grandmother of Jenna Marie Cornish, Jim Cornish, Chase Beebe, Autumn Smith, and Charlie Bear. Dear sister of Anita Bell (John), and Georgine Sagovac and sister-in-law of Yola Roel.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10:30 until the time of Memorial Service at 12noon at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St. in Milford, Michigan.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation in Lucille’s memory.
