Obituary for Luigi Richard Magnanti

Luigi Richard Magnanti, of Hartland Twp. and formerly of Rome, NY, passed away in the loving care of his family on December 25, 2015 at the age of 62.

Born June 17, 1953 in Rome, New York, Luigi was one of three children born to parents Marie (nee. Fera) and Peter F. Magnanti. Luigi and his siblings were raised in the Rome community where he attended Rome Catholic High School. Luigi furthered his education at West Point where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Engineering.

Major Magnanti served his country proudly for 20 years in the Army as an Infantry Officer and was dedicated to General Motors Proving Grounds where he was a Noise and Vibration Development Engineer.

In addition to Vickie, his beloved wife of 40 years, Luigi is survived by his children, Anellia “Nellie” (Dan) Hohne and SSG Luigi (Brooke) Magnanti; grandchildren, Jaclyn and Everett Hohne, Brenden Simpson, and Isabelle Magnanti; sister, Elvira (Pete) Brand; brother, Peter (Debbie) Magnanti; 7 nieces and nephews as well as his in-laws, CMSgt Edward and Doris Boody.
Extended family and friends join in mourning Luigi’s passing as they give thanks to God for his life among them.

Mass of the Resurrection from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2099 N. Hacker Rd., Howell, on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11 AM with gathering one hour prior. The Rev. Francis M. George to officiate. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on Friday, January 1 from 2-9 PM. Scripture Service and Time of Sharing at 7 PM.

Memorial contributions encouraged to West Point Assoc. of Graduates Superintendent’s Annual Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
