GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Be the first to share your favorite memory, photo or story of Marcia. This memorial page is dedicated for family, friends and future generations to celebrate the life of their loved one.
We ask on behalf of the family that you keep your comments uplifting and appropriate to help all who come here to find comfort and healing.
Loved ones will remember Marcia Lou Johnson as a gardener, an artist, a chocolate aficionado, a fan of bluegrass music, and a woman who adored her family, her dogs, and her many friends.
Marcia, 88, a long-time resident of Milford, passed peacefully on June 12 in Okemos. She was born on March 31, 1934 to Doris and Brooke Peters. Marcia had one sibling, a sister, Sandie (Robert, dec. 1990) Hellmann, who preceded her in death.
Marcia met her late husband, Hugh Johnson (dec. 1990), at Milford High School, though they did not begin dating until returning to Milford after Marcia finished college and Hugh served an overseas term in the U.S Air Force. They had a beloved daughter, Jill, who together with her husband, Todd Reglin, survive her. She is also survived by her nephew, Randy Hellman and his two daughters, Brooke and Christine, who were like granddaughters to her. Her first cousin, Florence “Betty” Burr of Saginaw, three recently acquainted first cousins in California, and numerous friends who were like family are also among those who survive her.
Marcia was a proud graduate of Alma College, where she had been the third generation of women in her family to attend. She was an elementary school teacher in her early years and later owned and operated Johnson’s Red Barn Nursery on Duck Lake Road with her father.
A Memorial Service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford.
The family will hold a visitation at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Reverend Herb Heavner will officiate.
Flowers are most welcome, as are donations in Marcia’s memory to Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care in Lansing or Happy Feet Pet Rescue (happyfeetpetrescue.com).
Marcia’s ashes will be interred at Milford Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
