Obituary for Margaret "Maggie" Lee Demeter

Margaret “Maggie” Lee Demeter, of Highland, passed away on April 23, 2022. She was 65 years old.

Maggie was an artist in many ways. Singing in a band “Relatively Speaking”, drawing with her children, cooking incredible meals, creating beautiful stained glass work and beaded art pieces. Her talent in art was also expressed in her career. She was a talented dental technician for 45 years. Sculpting teeth by hand and then transitioning to digital sculpting in the last few years.

Maggie was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great friend to many.

As a daughter she was strong. She took care of her own mother in the end stages of her life. She took every opportunity she could to care for others.

As a sister she was always trustworthy and reliable.

As a wife, she was patient with the man by her side. Enabling him to be the man he was meant to be. Side by side. One fight. One goal. Soulmates for life and then some.

As a mother, she was determined. She beat cancer as a young mom to her son, and birthed a daughter not long after. She was respected, loved, and feared by all the neighborhood kids. She was always ready to lay down the law or prepare the best meal you ever had. She never was one to yell, but you always knew when you were in trouble. Her love was quiet, but could be felt through your entire being.

As a grandma, she glowed. So much love was poured over her grandson, Knox, in the short time she spent with him. In her last week's he was the only thing that made her heart truly lighter.

In the end it was her heart that failed her, but the love she gave over her life will always be held by those touched by it.

Daughter of the late John and Martha Changas, Maggie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Scott Demeter; children, Cody (Christina) Demeter, and Jessie Demeter; grandson, Knox Demeter; step-mother, Barbara Changas; siblings, Cliff (Karen) Yokom, and Claudia (David) Eversole; also many dear friends.

Maggie is also preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Changas.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, MI 48381 on Tuesday, April 26th, 2022 from 4 - 8pm.
