Obituary for Margery B. Feigley

Margery Bourns Feigley, a lifelong resident of Milford, died at her home on Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017 in the care of her family and the Age With Grace Service. She was 92 years old.

Born on the 20th of October, 1924, at the family farm on Pearson Road, Margery was the daughter of Frederick W. Bourns and Amy Philips Bourns. She graduated from Milford High School in the class of 1942, and from Michigan State University in 1946 where she studied child growth and development and taught in Centerline and New Hudson. In December of 1946 she began dating a young Army Air Corps veteran of World War II named Cloyd Feigley who’d graduated from MHS in 1940. They were married in August of 1947 at the Milford Methodist Church at the south end of Union Street. The young couple took up residence on Canal Street and began their family and in 1968 moved to their home on First Street to house their three daughters and three sons. It was a busy household with growing children, a family automobile dealership, Feigley Motors to run, and community duties. Marge and Cloyd were active in the Historical Society, Huron Valley Schools, the Garden Club and other church and civic initiatives. They traveled together to Europe to see the places Cloyd had served in the war, took an Alaskan cruise, trips to Hawaii and elsewhere. Whether she was traveling the globe or walking the dog round the block, Marge Feigley was patient, kind, loving and good humored, a good neighbor, good citizen, great mom, grandma, and great-grandma.

After sixty-one years of marriage, Cloyd preceded his beloved wife in death in October of 2008. With the help of her children, Margery survived this bereavement, kept up her duties, walking her dog around the neighborhood until the end – an example of perseverance and faith and steadfast family love.

In addition to her husband, Cloyd, she was preceded in death by her son, Dan who died in 1980. She is survived by her daughters and sons, Deborah Saputo, Dale (Sherry) Feigley, Donald (Tama) Feigley, Dorothy Magyari, Doreen (Darryl) Kettle and foreign exhange daughter, Elian (Theo) Rooding-Overhof; grandchildren, Amy and Chris Lee, Daniel and Dawn Saputo, Anna and Travis Burkhardt, Andrea and Jesse Parkinson, Robert and Marissa Feigley, Katelyn Feigley, Lauren Kettle, Jennifer Feigley, Brian Kettle, Jessica Feigley and Carsen Kettle; great grandchildren, Chase and Westley Parkinson, Ruby and Nico Lee, and Gavin and Logan Burkhardt; brother-in-law, Merlin Feigley; canine companion, “Charlie” and many nieces and nephews, dear friends and neighbors.
