Obituary for Marilyn E. Camilleri

Marilyn E. Camilleri, a resident of Brighton, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2017 at the age of 67.

Marilyn was born in Detroit on November 16, 1949. She was one of four children born to Raymond and Mary (nee. Kiryluk) Hofweber.

She grew up in Detroit where she attended Ss Peter and Paul (Westside) and graduated from Cody High School. She retired from the English Department at Oakland Community College in 2005. On June 12, 1970 Marilyn married John Camilleri. She and John first lived in Canton before moving to Highland township in 1976 where they lived and raised their family for 20 years. Marilyn and John moved to Brighton in 1996 to enjoy retirement together.

Marilyn was a long-time member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howell. Together with her husband John, Marilyn loved spending time with her friends and family and traveling. Some of her most memorable trips were to Europe with friends where they visited Italy, England and France. Marilyn also enjoyed music and sports, even if she never did quite understand what a first down is. Marilyn will forever be remembered as a strong, intelligent and uniquely funny woman who was a loving and caring wife, sister, mother and grandmother and a great friend to many.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 47 years, John; her loving sons, John (Jennifer) Camilleri, Bryan (Danielle) Camilleri and Jeff (Jessie) Camilleri; dear grandchildren, Joseph, Jayden, Jack and Nick; and her brothers, Jim (Marsha) Hofweber and John Hofweber. She is preceded in death by her eldest sibling, Robert “Bob” Hofweber (d. 2012).
