Obituary for Marilyn Louise Fox

Marilyn Louise Fox (nee Vos), a resident of White Lake, Michigan and former longtime resident of Palm Desert, California, passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family on Sunday, August 17, 2008. She was 75 years old. Born in Detroit on February 5, 1933, the daughter of Emil Bernard & Princess Thelma Vos, Marilyn discovered her love for dancing just after learning to walk. At the age of three, she debuted in her first recital and memorably performed every step perfectly. In 1951, she graduated from Redford High School and later met, fell in love and was married to famous magician, Karrell Fox. Mr. & Mrs. Fox were soon blessed with the births of two sons, Karlin & Darin and made their home in Farmington because Michigan was where the magic was. Marilyn opened Fox School of Dance in Walled Lake in the early 1970s, and was well known within the performing arts for her endless dedication to her students. In the following years her husbands acclaim as one of the top three magicians in the world and 48th President of the International Brotherhood of Magicians provided the Fox family many opportunities to travel. Still, in a household where magic seemed trump, Marilyns heart always returned to the spotlight of center stage. In the late 80s, she & her husband moved to Palm Desert and quickly found friendship in a senior settlement community where Marilyn founded The Foxy Ladies, a popular performance group of elderly dancers & thespians. She wrote plays, often starred as the lead and enjoyed great praise for contributing to the culture & entertainment within the community. In 1998 Marilyn was widowed. For much of the past decade she has enjoyed living in closer reach to her sons and her extended family. She was comforted at the time of her own death to be in the care of her sister, Shirley in White Lake Township.

In addition to her sons, Karlin (Sue) and Darin, Marilyn is survived by her brother, William B. (Lill) Vos; sister, Shirley Coon; grandchildren, Nathin, Karlin R., Tami; great-grandchildren, Elizibeth, Cassidy, Adam; several loving nieces, nephews, former students and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3700 N. Harvey Lake Rd., Highland, Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 10 AM with Fr. Leo Lulko officiating. Burial Milford Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, Tuesday 2-9 PM. Rosary Tuesday 7 PM. For further information call 248-684-6645.
