Obituary for Marilyn Susan Salvati

Marilyn Susan Salvati, of Milford, passed away on April 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with the rare disease amyloidosis. She was 59 years old.

Born June 7, 1952 in South Bend, Indiana, Marilyn was one of three children born to parents Robert and Margaret (nee. Shuman) Smith. Marilyn and her brothers were raised in South Bend, Indiana before coming to Michigan in grade school. Following high school, Marilyn continued her education at Michigan State University where she completed her Bachelors Degree. She enjoyed a long career in various aspects with the State of Michigan.

In 1986, Marilyn met William Salvati who would become the love of her life. By 1990, the couple was married and began to make their home together in Milford. Together Marilyn and William tended to their property of three acres and most enjoyed the careful cultivations of their gardens. They shared their home for many years with their beloved Tonkinese cats Tasha and Boris who brought much joy and conversation to the household. Marilyn and William loved to travel especially out West. One of their favorite places is Marble, Colorado just over the ridge of the mountains from Aspen where many histories remain and memories forever will.

In addition to William Salvati her beloved husband of nearly 22 years, Marilyn is survived by her parents Robert and Margaret Smith; brothers Thomas (Kathy) Smith and Richard (Denise) Smith; and brother-in-law John Salvati.
