Marion Betts, 85 of Rotonda West, Florida, formerly of Milford, MI. Passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at home, with family by her side.
Born on December 13, 1927 in Detroit, MI to Leroy and Bessie (Evans) Patterson. Marion was proceeded in death by her daughter, Marcia Bowman in 2009. Survivors include her loving husband of sixty eight years: H. Glen Betts Jr. of Rotonda West, FL.; Two daughters, Patricia (Skip) Hintz of Rotonda West, FL, and Janice (Geoff) Schrock of Belleville, MI and one Son; H. Glen (Linda) Betts III of Milford, MI. Also surviving are Grand Children: Robert Minton, Jill Pierce and Bethany (Jeremy) Marco, all of Sioux City, IA. Kristin (Chris) Boland of Luck WI, and Bryon Glen (Carrie) Betts of Redford, MI. Marion also leaves behind eight beautiful Great Grand Children, Amber, Jessica, Calvin, Ann, Mike, Avery, Dyson and Elowyn.
Mrs. Betts originated Main Street Art, in downtown Milford, which she owned and operated for many years before retiring to their Florida home. Marion was an active member of the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the Rotary, along with membership in the local book club, Garden Club and other Community organizations. Her love for Milford was even greater then her love of Golf, which she participated until months before her passing. Mrs. Betts was a supporter of Milford's youth, volunteering as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader during her children's younger years.
After "retirement" to Florida, Marion continued to be active in her community through membership in the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, B.P.O. Elks, Women of the Moose, Englewood Orchid Society, Rotonda Book Club, Rotonda West Woman's Association and the Red Hat Society.
A Memorial for her many Florida friends and family will be held on February 17, 2013 at 1:00 at the American Legion Post 113 in Rotonda West.
A Memorial service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home in Milford, for her Michigan friends and family on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Gathering for visitation will begin at 12:00 and the service will commence at 1:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marion's memory to the American Legion Auxiliary or Tidewell Hospice.
