Obituary for Marjorie G. Vernier

Marjorie G. Vernier was born October 17, 1926 in Pontiac, Michigan. She passed away on June 27, 2014 in the loving care of her family at the age of 87.

She is survived by her husband Joseph. High school sweethearts, they had been married 69 years. They had 3 sons Joseph, III. (Persis), Steven (Kathleen) and Lee A. (Diana) and two daughters Gail Hobart, and, the late Colleen Kay, who had gone on ahead and awaited her mother in heaven. Marjorie was also welcome by her grandson, the late Jordan.

She was the daughter of George and Bessie Russell of Milford and sister of George W. Russell, all of whom are deceased.

Marjorie attended Milford Schools until 12th grade, graduating from North Phoenix High and attended Schoolcraft College. She was employed by Botsford General Hospital until her retirement when she moved to Linden, Michigan and became the secretary to the Deerfield Township Building Department of Michigan for many years. She retied to spend more time on her volunteer work.

Marjorie was a 50 year member and past President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #216, Milford; Past 18th District President and served the Department of Michigan for many years. She was a member of Salon #224 of the 8/40. ?

Interested in reading, painting and many other hobbies, she especially enjoyed her many years as a volunteer Wish Coordinator for The Rainbow Connection, working toward granting wishes to seriously ill children. Memorial donations to The Rainbow Connection, 621 W. University, Rochester, MI 48307 would be appreciated in her memory.

There are 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends�all of whom she loved dearly and considered to be among her greatest blessings.

Preceded in death by daughter Colleen Kay, grandson Jordan, brother George W. Russell, and parents George and Bessie Russell.

In addition to Joseph, her beloved husband of 69 years, Marjorie is survived by her children Joseph III (Persis), Steven (Kathleen), Lee A. (Diana) and Gail Hobart; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, also many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral Service to be held from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11 AM. Friends may visit Monday 6 - 9 PM and Tuesday 4 - 9 PM.

Memorial donations to the Rainbow Connection, 621 W. University, Rochester, MI 48307 in her memory appreciated.
