Obituary for Mark S. Onslow

Mark Steven Onslow, of White Lake, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2013 surrounded by his family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was 56 years old.

Mark was born on April 17, 1957 to parents Douglas and Susie Onslow in Dearborn, Michigan. He grew up in Warren with his brother and sister and graduated from Center Line High School in 1975. Following his graduation, Mark attended trade school and found his love of carpentry. In 1981, Mark and his friend, David Sheffield, founded Onlsow-Sheffield, Inc. in Brighton and enjoyed 32 years in business together. Mark participated in Oakland County Rebuild through Orchard Grove Community Church, was active in the construction education trust, and a member of Skilled USA and Associated Builders and Contractors. Mark cherished time spent traveling, whether it was a cruise or a trip up north. He enjoyed traveling, tennis, golf, boating and found great joy spending time with his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and his greatest passion was helping other people. He had many causes that were near and dear to his heart and his family will continue honoring his memory and fulfilling his dream of helping others through the creation of the memorial fund.

He is survived by his wife, Leisa; brother, David; sister, Janet (John); nieces and nephews, Michael (Erin) Onslow, Jennifer (Adam) Chase, Rebecca (Sam Shotts) Ormsby, Matthew (Katie Mason) Ormsby; great nieces and nephews, Aurora, Nathaniel, Hunter, Grace and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Thursday, August 15th, from 4-9 PM and Friday, August 16th, from 1-9 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at Orchard Grove Community Church, 850 Ladd Rd., Walled Lake on Saturday, August 17th, 2013 at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mark Onslow Memorial Fund in order for Mark's family to honor his memory and wish to continue to help those in need.
