Obituary for Mary Christine Buch

Mary Christine Buch has left us all with sadness on June 8th, 2015. She passed away in a peaceful sleep from heart failure due to long time complications of her diabetes. She lived her 68 years to the fullest and touched so many lives. Born on December 23, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Crispin and Mary Peneyra and sister of John Peneyra. She was often called Auntie Christine, Chris or Chrissy by family and friends.
Chris was full of life and energy. A patient person who was willing to help anyone, even those who used to tease her about her little Filipino pug nose. We will all miss her Helllooo when she answered the phone. She loved to talk for hours. She loved to sit and visit with you. When Chris asked you out to dinner you were in for something out of the ordinary, exotic. She loved to try new foods, new places. Chris always loved to read travel books since she was a kid. Her life is full of stories and pictures of all her travels in the US and around the world. Her CB handle was Pony Tail known for her beautiful long black hair. Chris would detour off her travel plans for every little attraction sign on the side of the road. Drove Art and those traveling with her crazy! She always wanted to see and do everything to make the most out of her trips. She would say Ill probably never pass this way again and Im only going to live once. That may be why she bootlegged Coors Beer out of Colorado, the adrenaline of possibly getting caught. She also pride herself on finding great deals. Whether she needed it or not she used to say it was on sale. Those of you on the receiving end of those deals understand what a great bargain hunter Chris was! She also loved a good party, hosting her summer Luaus and Pig Roasts. It was a chance for her to bring family and friends together.

Chris attended McColl Elementary, graduated from Frank Cody High School in 1964 and received an associates degree from Highland Park Community College. She soon met the love of her life, Arthur Buch. They were married September 2nd, 1967 at St. Suzanne Church in Detroit. They bought their first of four homes and their first fur kid, Duke, a Shepherd mix. Chris had three more fur kids, Razzle, then Snowy and Polar Bear, her cats. She adored them and the latter two are now living in a new very loving home.
Later in life Chris earned a double major in math and computer science from Madonna University. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan after many years with them.

Chris is starting her final journey home to be with the love of her life, Art, her parents, brother, family and friends who have taken the journey before her. Unable to have children of her own, she leaves behind her Monkeys Dennis, Katherine, Stephen and Suzanne. She leaves many fond memories to many dear family and friends.

Visitation will be at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Tuesday, June 16th from 4 - 9 pm, with a Rosary being led by St. Mary Church at 7 pm. Family would like you to feel free to leave a memento, a goodbye letter, or whatever you wish to be buried with Chris.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford on Wednesday, June 17th at 10:30 am. The Rev. Fr. Manny Chircop will officiate. Burial will be with her husband, Arthur, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI. In lieu of flowers and gift baskets, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Chris. The family can not take flowers and baskets back to Oregon with them. For further information please call Lynch & Sons, Milford at 248-684-6645.
