Obituary for Mary Katherine Del Pup

Mary Katherine Del Pup of Milford, MI was welcomed home into the arms of her Creator on Friday, January 28th. She was 71 years old. Beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Eileen Carlini. Devoted Wife of 51 years of Mario Del Pup. Loving Mother of Kristy (Matthew) Tyson, Kevin Del Pup and Stacey (Frank) Klingbeil. Cherished grandmother of Aidan Klingbeil, Olivia Midora, Justin Del Pup, Benjamin & Matthew Klingbeil.

Dear sister of the late William (Janet) Carlini, Barbara (John) Skurnowicz, Robert (Kim) Carlini, and the late Christine (Vince) Smith. Sister-in law of the late Gino (Mary T.) Del Pup and Gianni (Felicita) Del Pup.  Loving aunt of 16 nieces and 7 nephews. Preceded in death by her parents in law, Antonio and Guiseppina Del Pup.

Mary grew up in Detroit the daughter of an Italian immigrant father and southern born mother. Her parents together worked very hard to provide a faith-filled and blessed life for their children. Mary took those teachings and together with Mario, raised their three children making family the center of their world. Whether it was traveling to Europe or planning the next holiday, it was important to Mary that the family be together. Possessing a true servant's heart, Mary enjoyed opening her kitchen and sharing meals with family and friends.

Mary had a welcoming personality that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith.  She appreciated the friends and colleagues she met over the years at Our Lady of Refuge in West Bloomfield, Archdiocese of Detroit, and later at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth. She selflessly gave of her time. She was always willing to lend an ear and help others whenever she could. Mary had a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. Her personal and professional life was dedicated to acts of service for others.

Mary was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma. As they settled into retirement, any conversation with Mary probably included a story of one of her 5 grandchildren. She and Mario attended as many of the grandchildren’s sporting events and activities as they could.
A woman of faith and the heart of the family, Mary shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Most of all Mary loved her family and instilled in them strong values. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 47650 N Territorial Rd, Plymouth, MI. Mary will lie in state prior to mass from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. A luncheon is planned immediately following the service in the social hall.

Private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be offered to St. Bonaventure Capuchin Monastery, 1740 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207 or Mary’s Mantle, P.O. Box 115, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48303-0115.
