Obituary for Maureen LaFontaine

OUR MADRE. OUR NANA. OUR PEANUT, OUR FIGHT SONG FOREVER!!!!

On October 28th at 1:22 in the afternoon. Our Princess was called to a much grander plan at our Creator’s side. God has a plan for our beautiful Mom, he knew her Lioness heart has so much more fight left, her passion can inspire so many more from His Golden Kingdom.

I can see our Madre standing all of 4ft 11in at his side. She looks so beautiful. She is wearing her favorite white dress, her blue eyes are sparkling so brightly, I’ve never seen her smile so large. He is squeezing our Madre so tightly at his side as a sign that she will be with all of us forever. Through God all things are possible, but “WOW,” with our Feisty Angel at his side, possible has become more passionate!!!!

Our Mom will live on forever through her soulmate of 52 years, her loving Husband Mike. Her four grateful and proud children Christie, Mike Jr, Kelley, and Ryan. She loved us all and inspired us to embrace life with heart and passion. Always reminding us that to be rich in life does not mean to be rich in material things, rather to be rich in FAITH and rich in FAMILY. Through those life lessons our Father reminded us that she loved us so much, but although it seems impossible, she loved her fifteen grandchildren even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chet, Zack, Johnnie, Mackenzie, Kevin, Savanna, Aidan, Lily, Carter, Morgyn, Landry, Larkin, Alexandra, Madden, and Monroe were the sparkle in her life. Being Nana made her glow even more. She had a bracelet she wore daily and would always tell her four children that our job was to fill it up, and even at fifteen grandchildren she always hinted there’s always room for more on her bracelet. Family is everything to our Mom and she always did everything for us. We are blessed she lives in all of us. Her heart of a lion is her legacy and will carry on through us and the many people that she touched. You see, her family doesn’t stop at the nineteen of us, every employee we have called her Madre!!!!! She always said our employees and customers are our family. With this, I know her spark will carry on for generations and forever in Heaven.

Our mom was a pioneer. She was a stay at home mom raising all four of us until her youngest Ryan was six years old. She wanted to always protect us, so she confidently charged out to the working world to make sure that if anything ever happened to our father, she could run the family business and provide for us all. She sold cars for one year, then in 1984 she became a dealer, running what is now our biggest store. She was determined to succeed in a male dominated business and clearly she did. The Family Deal is our Madre without a doubt. The life lessons she taught us all daily through her life’s journey demonstrated the emphasis of family. It was through her actions, she created who we are today and what we strive to be. A philosophy that would only be alive through her passion, daily examples through her actions, and the heart of our company that is so generous and giving. She is and will always be The True Family Deal!!!! Her accomplishments were too many to mention, however, Madre always humbly deflected the credit to her husband, children and her extended family at work. She taught us all that through success you have to be grateful for God’s blessings and give more than you receive. Our culture both personally and professionally, such as our grass roots, stem from her example of giving back to the communities that have always given so much to all of us.

Our Mom lived in Flint, Michigan and was born at New Grace Hospital in Detroit. She is the oldest of seven children. Mike, Don, Joe, George, Susie, and Patrick. She came from a middle class hard working family that always had enough because they had each other. She grew up most of her childhood in Farmington, attending Our Lady Of Sorrow’s for school and growing up on Shiawassee street.

Madre met her soulmate in 8th grade at the age of twelve. Their sixty years of love all started with God bringing the two together. Our Father above knew they needed each other and that His plan of them united in life would inspire and touch so many lives.

Their love is an example for so many on what a true marriage is. Our mom knew from the moment she met our Dad that they would start a family and spend all of life together. She told my dad that very thing when they met. They did just that, always dreading a single moment they were apart. Their love and affection was contagious and they showed it everywhere they went. God made Maureen for Mike on July 19th, 1946. He knew that a good man is only great with an amazing, passionate, honest and heartfelt wife at his side. God’s greatness shines through their love for each other. Their example is our example of how to love every day and that our hearts are our greatest assets. We will always thank God for the life examples she showed us through her inspirational approach to life every day and her relentless determination to live life with all her heart. Her heart was present in all that she did and it will always remain present in all that she will do in the kingdom of Heaven and as our Guardian Angel fighting and looking out for each and everyone of us.

This obituary is not an obituary as you have most likely seen. It’s a celebration of the life our Madre lived on earth and the recognition of her greatest calling in heaven. We rest in God’s constant reminders and signs that our mom is all around us! It’s so hard in moments like these to remember that this life on earth is temporary, and heaven is forever. Our family walks by Faith, so we understand this separation is only temporary and we will all meet her in Heaven one day. So as we walk together down this road, please know the tears that you shed are tears of our Madre’s HEART, tears of her PASSION, tears of her life’s work of giving more than she received, tears of her greatest accomplishment her FAMILIA, and tears of joy knowing that her spark will carry on forever inside of all of us. In every memory we create she will be there. In every accomplishment and occasion. In the good times and the challenging times she will be hugging us and telling us how much she loves and is so proud. She will be the constant reminder that our heart is our biggest asset. When we struggle on what path to follow she will always remind us to put all of our focus on Faith, Family, and Friends, faith being the most important. Right down to her last breath on this earth she was surrounded by her Faith & Family. She is loved and she loves us all so passionately. Her love is our foundation, Mom made sure her investment in morals and values she instilled will never be lost.

She's our ROCK, HER HEART is our heart, HER PASSION is our passion. HER LOVE is our love. Madre is ALIVE through all of us. We are all here because of her and God's grace. Let's attack life FOR HER and inspire, love and help others, lift each other up. Madre’s heart was her greatest gift and it beats strongly inside of each and everyone of us. Let's keep her legacy alive and take all the tools this lion of a lady gifted to us and put them to good work on earth. Let's look up to the skies and smile AT OUR Madre, NANA, PEANUT, and DAD'S LIFE & SOULMATE🙏🙏🙏🙏

We are so grateful to be her children. We are proud and blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from her, to be loved by her and to love her back. Our hearts are full of her love, joy, compassion and determination. We whispered into her ear, to always show us signs that she's shining down on us from God's kingdom. As we walked out of the hospital feeling defeated, she reminded me of what I asked her, we saw her soul leaving the hospital when we left. And taking her journey to God's side. There's no other possible explanation. She traveled her journey in style all the way to HEAVEN like only she could do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all have hurt inside right now. And our journey is going to be hard every day. Just know though the tears and hurting hearts, that MADRE is with us. Every memory we create, we create with her watching us and being a part of. She might show up 5 min late :) ,but she will be there. She is the most beautiful women inside and out and that beauty is showcased through her legacy left for all those individuals she impacted. May the tears turn into smiles, great memories, funny stories and laughter. Always recall her foundation of FAITH, FAMILY & FRIENDS and what it means to foundations. These two things comprise your past, present and future.

SHE IS OUR FIGHT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
