Obituary for Maurice H. Allmacher

Maurice H. Allmacher, a resident of Commerce Twp., died peacefully at home on April 7, 2013.

He was 73 years of age. He was born in Detroit on October 4, 1939 to parents Maurice and Emelie (Braza) Allmacher. He joined the Army as a teenager and during his ten years of enlistment enjoyed many occupations such as cook, tanker, head of a PX and officers' club, driver, etc. His Army career took him to many places including Alaska, Hawaii, and Vietnam. He excelled in marksmanship and even taught classes. He learned the Vietnamese language and became good friends with the Vietnamese people while there. He managed to enjoy life wherever he was and whatever his assignment. Upon returning from the Vietnam War, his natural talents as an engineer were showcased in the automotive industry where his mechanical abilities excelled. People were charmed by his wit and loved to hear the stories of his colorful past. It was at Chrysler that he met his wife, Rose Mary, and they were married on May 15, 1970. The couple made their home and raised their two children in the metro Detroit area, and then settled lastly in Commerce Township fourteen years ago. He loved his family, guns, cars, animals, road trips, war, western, and science fiction movies, tinkering in the garage, and reminiscing with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 43 years, Rose Mary; dear children, Maurice (Michele) Allmacher III and Carolyn; granddaughters, Samantha and Abigail; siblings, Rosalie (Robert) Imrick, Paul (Karen) Allmacher, Louis (the late Veronica); 13 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles. He made a lasting impression on everyone who met him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary�s Parish on Friday, April 12 at 11 AM. Fr. Ron Anderson officiating. Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Thursday from 3-8 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
