Maxine Theresa Brainer, age 80, of Commerce Township, Michigan passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021.
Beloved wife of Richard for 61 years. Loving mother of Rick Brainer, Greg Brainer (Dave) and Jason Brainer (Julie). Proud grandmother of Austin and Andrew Brainer. She is also survived by five siblings as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Maxine grew up in the Franklin Park Neighborhood of Detroit, MI and attended Cody High School. She met her soulmate at Malone’s Drive-IN in Detroit. They dated until they married in 1960 and Dick & Maxine had 61 loving adventurous years together. Both focused and put their three son’s as the major priority in their lives.
With their love for summer and water, they spent summers at the family cottage every year on Crystal Lake in Frankfort, MI. Maxine’s dream was to move to the home permanently.
Maxine's home was always open to everyone and she encouraged family and friends to come over anytime and make themselves at home, but always insisted they take their
shoes off. Her refrigerator and cupboards were always stocked so when she had visitors she could feed them. As she spent the last days of her life in a hospital bed, one of her son's jokingly asked her if they were ironing her sheets, as if it could be ironed with perfect creases Maxine made sure it was.
Devotion was Maxine's strongest and most endearing trait. She love taking care of all, and that continued until her health declined. Maxine volunteered for and solicited needed items for area animal no kill rescues, in her later years. Her passion to save all animals is why the family is asking in lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to Almost Home Animal Rescue P.O. Box 25062 West Bloomfield, MI 48325 or online at www.almosthomeanimals.org can be made in her honor.
The family will hold a Memorial Prayer Service after the Holiday's and will notify friends and family.
