Obituary for May Gertrude Navarre

May Gertrude Navarre of Rochester Hills died in the care of her family on Friday morning, February 26, 2010. She was eighty-seven years old. Born in Onekama, Michigan on December 1, 1922, May was the daughter of Edward and Areatha Gertrude Kuenzer. Following graduation from Onekama High School, she moved to Pontiac, Michigan, and met her husband Miles Joseph Navarre at GMC Truck & Bus facility on S. Boulevard, where she worked as a clerk until she retired after thirty years of service. May and Miles moved in 1961 to their home on Harvey Lake in Highland, raised two daughters, and returned to the Pontiac area, to a retirement community in Rochester Hills. May was active in many service organizations, a long-time member of the church body of The Lutheran Church, a volunteer for many years at The Salvation Army, and was a loyal active member of UAW Local 594 until she died. Her parents Edward and Areatha, and siblings Russell, Harry, and Areatha (Sapelak) Kuenzer predeceased her, as did her husband Miles in 1989. May is survived by her daughters Colleen (Tige) Reader, and Roxanne (Thomas) Williams. Also surviving are three grandsons Rhett Reader, and Brien and Jason Burch, and four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends who join with her family in mourning her death and giving thanks to God for her life among them.

A Memorial Service at St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester will be scheduled in the near future, a notice will appear in the newspaper.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church/Stephen Ministry, 1011 W. University Drive, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. For further information please phone Lynch & Sons at 248.684.6645.
