Merylene Ruthann Schneider, of Milford, Michigan died on August 17, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was 77 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roland "Jack" Schneider, four children, Gretchen (Paul) Burke, Anne (Bill) Loncar, Krista (Joe) Slater-Schneider, Jonathan (Ann) Schneider, grandchildren Janelle Powers, Jason Burke, Isaac Slater, great-granddaughter Alaina Powers, sister Mary Lingerfielt and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Myrna Mitchell.
Merylene graduated with a B.A. degree in Journalism and Sociology from Wayne State University where she worked on the newspaper and yearbook. She was a gifted writer, editor, and proofreader. She served for many years as a co-editor of Offspring Magazine, a National Journal for cooperative preschools. Additionally, she co-authored and edited several books including: "Here’s Memories of Earl McPherson: The King of Pinup Art"; "Creatures of the Night: The Rocky Horror Show Experience"; and "Craft of World and Quilt," a collection of her poetry. In recent years, she served as an editor for the online Newsletter of the Michigan Alliance of Retired Americans.
A Memorial Service will be held at New Hope Universalist Church, 57885 Grand River, New Hudson, on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 4 PM. A reception will follow the service.
The family requests that flowers not be sent. Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
