Obituary for Michael Victor Doyle

Michael Victor Doyle was born on May 20, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, the eldest son to parents William Joseph and Dolores Lillian (nee. Blondeel) Doyle. From a young age, Michael was a hard worker and dedicated to his family.

It was chance that brought Michael Doyle and Margaret Rawlins together in 1975. The young couple met at the Old Shillelagh in Detroit on October 10; a day that is noted as the “start of everything”. Their life together was filled with love, joy, and serendipity.

In 1985, Mike and Margaret designed and built a home in Westacres; something he was always very proud of. While raising his family and working tirelessly, Michael earned his Master’s Degree in Business from Walsh College. Mike’s 43-year career began at Chevrolet, and after many marked successes, he retired from Powertrain in 2008.

Following retirement from General Motors, Mike’s love of woodworking grew and he spent many hours crafting toys and furniture pieces for his family. In his free time Mike was also a member of the Michigan Fly Fishing Club, Multi Lakes Conservation Association, Detroit Area Woodturners, and United Flying Organization.

Above all, Mike’s favorite hobby and life’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he relished every moment spent in their company, be it attending their school events, watching old movies together, or running wild in the backyard.

Michael led by example and was an inspiration and role model to his three daughters. Dedication, perseverance, resilience, and independence are some of the qualities Mike and Margaret worked to instill in their girls. “Work hard, play hard,” was a common refrain in the Doyle home.

Michael will be missed by so many, especially Margaret, his beloved wife; his three loving daughters, Katy (Kevin) Doyle-Hohf, Anne (Daniel) Doyle-Hodge and Alison (Mike) Doyle-Hoover; and dear grandchildren, Adam, Abigail and Asher Hohf, Elijah, Noah and Luca Hodge, as well as extended family and many dear friends. He is survived by his sister, Patrica (Leo) Jaroneski; and brothers, Timothy (Donna) Doyle and Kevin Doyle.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11 AM. The Rev. Fr. Brendan J. Walsh to officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday, July 17th, from 3-8 PM or on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
