Obituary for Michael J. Murphy III

Michael J. Murphy III, born in Detroit Michigan, a longtime resident of Livonia, resident of Northville and Highland Michigan, passed from this life in Winter Haven, Florida on April 16, 2018. He was 84 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Russ-Murphy; his children, Michael (Mary Ellen), Timothy (Pam), Shawn (Dale), Kevin, Thomas (Suzy), and Allison (Gordon); step-children, Scott (Sarah), and Renee (Frank); grandchildren, Keegan, Shana, Michael, Elaine, Owen, Scott, Casey, Megan, Madeline, Matthew, Delaney, Emma, Meghan, Benjamin, Lila, Bradley, Nathan, Shea and Seth; along with seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Suzanne Keffer (Ted) and Linda Hillis, as well as extended family members and many dear friends at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Church, Milford. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Dorothy, his first wife Evelyn, and brother Terrance.

Mike enjoyed Family, golf, traveling, cruising, his church where he was a member of the choir, socializing, building and repairing things, electronics, the outdoors, and in his younger years much fishing and hunting. Mike was a Veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean war, a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion- Oldenberg Post and Our Lady of Victory and St. Matthews, Florida.

Mike was an Electrical Engineer, receiving his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) Degree from Lawrence Technological University (LTU) working several jobs primarily in the Automotive Design and Engineering field, working a long career as an Audio Systems Engineer at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn Michigan.

Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on April 25, 2018 from 2 - 8 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows, 1955 E. Commerce Rd, Milford, Michigan on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Committal Prayers will follow at Commerce Memorial Cemetery. Following the graveside services a luncheon will be held at the church.
