Obituary for Muriel Ann Wilcox

Muriel Ann Wilcox (n�e Hollerud) of Bloomfield Township died peacefully Sunday evening, June 7th 2015. She was 72.

Muriel is survived by her son, Matthew Turner (fianc�e Jeannee) of Chicago; her daughter-in-law, Wendy Turner of White Lake; her grandchildren, Michael, Johnathan, and Jack; her friend and former husband Matt Turner (Marilyn); her sister, Susan Christian (Glen); her step-children, Carl, Joe, and Tammy; and many extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Turner, and her former husband, Bill Wilcox.

Muriel was born January 8th, 1943 in Detroit to Harry Hollerud and Dorothy Estella (n�e Liley). She was named after her maternal grandmother, Muriel (n�e Welding) and her middle name is from her paternal grandmother, Anna (n�e Svensrud). Muriel lived her adult life in the lakes area of Oakland County with the exception of several years in Manassas, Virginia. She had a passion for traveling and the travel business, running her own agency for several years. This passion enabled her to see a great deal of the world and enjoy many happy travels with friends and family. Muriel was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and she loved Elvis Presley (with whom she shared her birthday). However, her greatest love was for her sons and grandsons, to whom she gave so much of herself.

In her later years Muriel faced a number of medical issues. However, with the help of her close friends and dear cousins, she was determined to continue living life to its fullest potential. She fought a courageous and defiant battle setting an example for all who loved her.

The family will have a memorial service from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her name to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
