Obituary for Murray F. Bell

Murray F. Bell, a resident of Milford since 1976, and a native of Fenton, died on November 27, 2011 after suffering a heart attack at his home.

Born on May 18, 1924 in Meaford, Ontario, Murray grew up in Fenton, Michigan where he was a graduate of Fenton High School. In Fenton, Murray was known as the paperboy, as he delivered two different newspapers to residents from 1936-1941, and knew just about everyone in town. He also worked with Tamlyns Photo Studio in Fenton and enjoyed the business of photography, in which he nearly made his career. Throughout his life he enjoyed developing family photos and shooting home movies. After serving his country as a Flight Officer in the U.S. Army, he attended the University of Michigan where he obtained his BBA BUS in 1950 and a MBA BUS in 1963. He began his career with the General Motors Company in Saginaw, before moving to Ford Motor Company with whom he worked as a Cost Accountant for thirty-five years. He retired in January of 1987.
On May 27, 1947 he married Ella Jorgensen, his sweetheart since childhood. They made their home in Allen Park for over twenty-two years before moving to their home that they built in Milford in 1976, and in which they moved on their thirtieth wedding anniversary. He and Ella were blessed with the births of two sons and he enjoyed watching his family grow to include his four treasured grandchildren, with whom he often engaged in a good game of marbles or putt-putt golf. He was a devoted member of the Milford Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and undertook the duty of recording ceremonies. He will always be remembered as a happy, cheerful man who brought joy to his family and friends.

In addition to Ella, his beloved wife of over 64 years, he is survived by his sons, Doug (Margaret) Bell of Farmington Hills and Craig Bell of Farmington, and grandchildren, Kirk, Amy, Chris and Jeffrey Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Agnes Bell, and brothers, Graham and Donald.
