Obituary for Nicholas Breitwiser

Nicholas Breitwiser, a resident of Wolverine Lake and 8th grade student at Sarah Banks middle School in Wixom, passed away at home due to accidental asphyxiation. Nicholas had just turned 14 on January 14, 2017.

He leaves his parents, Tim and Lori; his sister, Savannah; grandparents, Brian and Linda Helmer, Mary Ellen Breitwiser and Richard Wilson; great grandmother, Waltraud Wilson; aunts and uncles; Angela (Ben) Vanhorn, Melanie (Ryan) Shepherd, Ryan (Kathy) Wilson; cousins, Makena, Brody, Brinley and many other great aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Nicholas excelled at all sports and was a proud member of the Boy’s Junior Olympic Gymnastics Team. Nicholas loved adventure—fishing, snowboarding, water skiing, climbing trees, golfing, summers spent in California, Disney World, and traveling across the country where he could climb on boulders and enjoy the incredible views. Nicholas loved everything about the ocean—skim/boogie boarding, paddle boarding, diving into waves, discovering creatures in tide pools, and swimming with his beloved cousins whom he greatly adored.

Nicholas rocked it out playing the trumpet with the SBMS band, enjoyed listening to and creating music, and was known to “bust a move” spontaneously wherever he was. As a member of the CD828 film crew, he created, filmed, and acted in many videos and learned the art of filming with their drone. Nicholas was even in the process of designing and building his own drone. Nicholas had many laughs with his sister wrestling on the trampoline, playing Wii Fit together, biking in the woods, and visiting her in between classes at her locker.

Nicholas was very handy - learning to build things from his dad and Papa. He loved designing and creating seeking to be an inventor one day. Nicholas was excited to be in Design Tech and already had many plans in the works. From a very young age, he enjoyed helping his Grammi in the kitchen, gardening, playing games, or just spending time with her.

Nicholas was very witty and bright, often making others “crack up” with his quiet, clever comments. Nicholas was insightful and caring. He could read people well, went out of his way to be kind, showed affection unashamedly, and rooted for the underdog. Nicholas always had a hug for his dad and even at 14 years old, was not embarrassed to grab on to his mom’s hand to show his love. Nicholas touched the lives of many people young and old and will be tremendously missed.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Sunday, February 12, from 1p.m. until 8 p.m. A Funeral Service in Nicholas’ honor will be held at Oak Pointe Church of Milford, 1250 South Hill Road, Milford, on Monday, February 13, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Paul Jenkinson officiating.
