Noreen Ann Markey, a resident of Milford and Port St. Lucie, Florida, died peacefully on July 9, 2011. She was 85 years old. She is survived by her beloved husband Lawrence Hill Markey, Sr. and their sons Lawrence II (Suzanne) Markey, Michael (Martha) Markey, and daughters Christine (Gil) Karle, Cathleen (Evan) Macfarlane, Judy (John) Slanga, and Nancy (John) Macfarlane; grandchildren, Wende (Richard), Bridget (David), Heather (Shaun), Patrick, Erin (Michael), Andrea, Megan (John), John (Johanna), Katie (Matthew), Conor (Teresa), Katie (Lars), Kristin (Darren), Gretchen (Robert), Evan (Stacey), and great-grandchildren Christopher, Jameson, Kenna, Quinn, Brendan, Schuyler, Meryl, Karenna, Kayla, Connell, John Patrick, John Michael, John Joseph, Grace, Anabelle and Evan.
Noreen was born in Detroit on June 6, 1926, the only child of Joseph and Isabel Sullivan. As a young girl she was an acrobat and a performer. She and Lawrence were married on November 28, 1944. Noreen was a collector of fine antiques and was the owner of Country Store Antiques in Oak Park until 1981. She was a golfer and a member of Edgewood Country Club in Commerce and of the Saint Lucia River Club at Ballantrae in Port St. Lucie. She was a long-time resident of Lathrup Village and Orchard Lake. Noreen and her husband Lawrence also owned Nova Forest Products. She loved books, travel, needlework, bowling, cards and spending time with her six children, 14 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren and many dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Tuesday, July 12th at 12 PM. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons, Monday 3-8 PM. Memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society. For further information, please phone Lynch & Sons at 248-684-6645.
