Norman Lewis Huff, a long time resident of Commerce Township and Lake Sherwood, died on November 2, 2016 at the age of 86.
Born on February 26, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, Norman was the son of William Thomas Huff and Marion (nee. MacLeod) Huff. Norman and his siblings were raised in Detroit. Norman was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Air Police. He worked for AAA Insurance for over thirty-eight years before retiring in 1992. His most recent insurance office was in the city of Birmingham.
Norman enjoyed working in his yard and was an avid golfer. Over the years, he was a member of Lakelands Golf and Country Club, Farmington Country Club and then the Lake Sherwood Golf League. Norman loved boating with friends and family on Lake Sherwood and in past summers up North on group trips. Automobiles were a passion his entire life and he could be seen driving around town in his favorite car or attending car shows. Norman was a man of patience, humor and true kindness and he lived for his family. He will be deeply missed and remembered with love.
He is survived by Dorothy “Dot”, his beloved wife of over sixty-five years; his daughter, Nancy (John) Staples; his son, Tom (Ellen) Huff; grandchildren, Thomas Huff, Amy (Mathew) Franck, Ashley Staples, Sean Staples; great grandchildren, Levi and Eloise Franck; sister, Mary Ellen Kullgren, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Huff and Marion MacLeod Huff, his brother, Donald Huff, and sister, Nancy Huff.
