Obituary for Ora Lucille Georgevich

Ora Lucille Krueck Georgevich, a resident of Milford, MI and formerly of Yuma, AZ, Highland Park, IL & South Milwaukee, WI, died peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2008. Born on August 11, 1923 to George and Anna (nee Schroeder) Krueck, Ora was raised with her two older brothers George and William in South Milwaukee, WI. She is survived by her children Stephen, Daniel (Meg), Jeffrey (Mary Patt), Ellen (Doug) and Joel (Alison), as well as grandchildren Katie, Andy, Mary, Robbie, Tim, Jennifer and Eric.
Ora graduated from Milwaukee Teachers College and began teaching kindergarten in Marinette, WI.

In 1947 she married Steve Georgevich and they had five children together. Her own mix of tolerance, high expectations, valuing a good education and a healthy dose of practicality lives on in each of her children.

After her marriage ended, Ora took on her new role as a single, working mother. Long before society became accepting of divorced women returning to work, Ora went back to teaching while caring for her children and spoke openly to women friends and family facing similar challenges.

Ora spent many of her retirement years in Highland Park, IL and Yuma, AZ where her network of friends and her love of word and thinking games kept her mind sharp. Always up for a game of bridge or scrabble, her love of books and skill with crossword puzzles and word jumbles was legendary in the family. Even after her eyesight failed, Ora would listen to books on tape and could still solve a puzzle quickly after hearing its description.

She will be missed, remembered and celebrated by all those who knew her.

Services will be held privately by her family. Memorial contributions appreciated to the National Kidney Foundation and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For further information please contact Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, Milford at 248-684-6645.
