Obituary for Patricia Joyce Cataldo

Patricia Joyce Cataldo, of New Hudson and a native of Metro Detroit, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on September 20, 2017.

Pat was born on June 23, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Martin and Joyce Casey. During her high school years, Pat met the young John Cataldo at the local grocery store — it was love at first sight. Their romanced blossomed, they were engaged at Pat’s senior prom and were married on June 11, 1960. Pat had always dreamed of being a mother and wife, and they were blessed with three daughters, Kim, Carolyn and Rachel. The family acquired their first home in Warren, where she was very close to her neighbors. She moved many times around Metro Detroit and Pat and John eventually settled in New Hudson.

Pat’s loving, kind nature, strong faith and passion for her family suited her well. She was a devoted wife and mother, who was always active in her daughters' lives and could make any event or occasion fun. During her younger years, she was an active member of her church where she taught Sunday school and youth groups and helped to create the church library. She worked in the licensing department for the Secretary of State for over fifteen years. She was an avid reader, often reading two to four books a week. In recent years, Pat found joy creating the family tree. Most of all, Pat loved her family and cherished all of her time spent with her husband, daughters and her beloved, wonderful grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John A. Cataldo; daughters, Kim, Carolyn (Ron) and Rachel (Jeff) Jowett; grandchildren, Jessica, Greg, Alex and Shane; brother, Marty (Pat) Casey; sister, Carol (Al) Catania as well as nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Casey and mother, Joyce (Victor) Frohriep.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St, Milford on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Pastor Cliff Mansley officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, September 21st from 4-8 PM.
