Obituary for Paul Edward Hayes

Paul Edward Hayes, a lifelong resident of Milford, died on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at West Hickory Haven after a long struggle with Alzheimer�s Disease. He was 78 years old. Born on the 4th of July, 1933 in Warren, Michigan, he was the son of Emory and Maude (Lutes) Hayes. He grew up in Milford and after high school, he served for three years with the U.S. Army in Germany in the early 50�s. On his return, he married his sweetheart, Kathleen Wakefield and went to work with her father, �Bud,� at Wakefield�s Sunoco at the corner of South Main and Huron Streets in Milford, eventually owning and managing the station for 18 years. After closing the station, he spent fifteen years with Parks Installation until his retirement in the early 90�s. Paul Hayes loved the out of doors � hunting and fishing, boating and vacationing with family and friends. He enjoyed trapshooting and was a member of the Birmingham Gun Club and took up golf in retirement and made custom golf clubs. He was grateful to see the generations of his family rising up around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathleen (nee. Wakefield); children, Ryan Hayes, Randy (Terri) Hayes, Renee (Timothy) Lewis, Roger (Mary-Ann) Hayes; grandchildren, Kristen & Kayla Hayes, Timothy & Paul Lewis, Amelia & Mitchell Hayes; great grandchildren, Emma & Eryn Hayes; sister, Myrtle Forslund.

Paul was preceded in death by his brother Robert Hayes.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Monday, August 15, at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. R. John Harris to Officiate. Burial Milford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Sunday from 2-8 PM.
