Paul Zajac, a long time resident of Highland, Michigan, died peacefully at his home on November 1, 2010. He was eighty-four years old. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on December 2, 1925, the son of Nicholas and Sophia Zajac, Paul grew up with five siblings in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He finished his senior year of high school in only six weeks due to being drafted into the United States Army to serve his country during WWII. Paul served bravely and would later be issued a Purple Heart for his valor and wounds from a battle in Germany. When he returned home, Paul moved to the Detroit area where some of his brothers were living. During an evening out with friends at the local hangout, Paul met Theresa Pat Fogell. They quickly fell in love, and were married on April 17, 1950 at St. Cunegunda Church in Detroit. Paul began his career with Kelvinator, a refrigeration company, later worked with Morse Chain, and was retired from Stahl Manufacturing in October, 1988.
Paul will always be remembered for his love of fishing, shuffle board, and darts. His grandson and great grandchildren will always have great memories of their G.G. Pappa, most notably his hobby of singing while riding his tractor to cut the lawn.
In addition to Pat, his beloved wife of 60 years, he is survived by his son, Terry (Sue) Zajac; grandson, David (Rhonda) Zajac, great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Zajac, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who join his family in mourning his passing and giving thanks to God for his life among them.
Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Louise), Mike (Helen), Nick (Ruth), Lou (Rita) Zajac, and a sister, Margaret Hucal.
