Polly Hunt was born Pauline Johnston Pelletier, the youngest of five children born to Ernest LeRoy and Myrtle Pelletier of Ferndale, Michigan. She attended Ferndale High School where she met her future husband, John Willis Hunt (Jack). Jack joined the army in 1943 during the Second World War and Polly worked and waited for his return. They were married in 1946 after he returned from the service, and their strong and loving marriage endured for 66 years. Together they raised three children, Ralph, Patty, and David. In 1974, after the last of their children left home, they built the home they had dreamed of on Dunham Lake in Hartland, Michigan. Polly loved walking the lakeshore in all seasons and keeping an eye on the local wildlife, especially the hummingbirds in summer and the sandhill cranes in the fall and winter. She also enjoyed snow skiing, golf, and tennis. In her later years, she loved to travel by car across country to visit her children in various parts of the western United States. Her husband, Jack, her older sister, Peg, and her children, Ralph, Patty, and David survive her.
Services were held privately.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Compassionate Care Hospice, Canton, MI.
