Obituary for Peter Szczypka Wolschleger

It is with the heaviest of hearts and the most trust in God's plan that we wish to inform everyone that Peter has passed on to his eternal resting place.

Peter was born on January 14, 2020 at 9:15 AM.  He measured in at 7 lb. 8 oz. and 21 in. long.  He moved swiftly into pre-op and was quickly prepped for surgery.  It was there that Peter was baptized by our priest, Fr. Jim. Our little warrior went into surgery around 9:35 AM. The first step of the surgery was going great, until his little heart and little lungs were not doing what they needed to do.  Peter's body was not getting the oxygen it needed and his stability rapidly started to decline.  The surgical team did everything they could before they brought Peter back to us to spend his last moments in his family’s arms.

Often when one passes on, we look at the legacy they left.  In the 1 hour and 50 minutes Peter was with us, he created a legacy bigger than anyone could imagine.  Since his diagnosis at his 20 week ultra sound he set out to unite a community, strengthen family bonds, strengthen our faith in God, teach us patience, care, love and a plethora of other great things.

Peter got his fast pass to heaven and is celebrating with grandparents, friends, and cousins.

God is merciful, and while death is hard, we remember His plan.

As we walk through the valley of the unknown, we will find the footprints of Jesus both in front of us and beside us.

We are overwhelmed with the love and support with which you have surrounded us.  Please continue to pray for our family as we seek healing.  God is good.

Peter is survived by his parents, Brandon and Megan; sister, Eliza; grandparents, Ken (Maureen), Angela (Anthony) & Richard; aunts and uncles, Erin (Justin), Alison (Dennis), Caitlin (Matt), Eddie, Josh, Nicole (Shawn) and Stephani (Jon); great-grandmothers, Mary Lou McNamara and Mary Lou Kramer as well as many cousins, friends, extended family members and a community full of support.

Peter was preceded in death by his grandfather, Peter Wolschleger and his great-grandparents, Edward McNamara, Robert and Janet Szczypka, Albert and Helen Wolschleger and Gerald Kramer.

Funeral Services will take place at St. Edith Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 7:00 PM. Friends and family may gather in the Chapel from 5:00 PM until the start of service. Fr. Jim McNulty to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to either St. Edith Catholic School
(http://www.stedithschool.com), which will be designated to a scholarship fund in Peter’s name, or to Another Way Pregnancy Center (https://awpcfriends.org) - because each life is precious.
