Obituary for Pradeep Prad Madhavan

Pradeep Prad Madhavan, a resident of Commerce Township, Michigan, former resident of Madrid, Spain and Oakville, Ontario, and Vice President of Sales for IBM PureSystems of North America, died on February 17, 2013 after suffering a heart attack one week earlier. He was 44 years old.

Born on December 1, 1968 in Barrow-in-Furness, England, the son of Sethu Madhavan and Malu (Varadarajan) Madhavan, Prad grew up in England until the family moved to Yukon, Canada when he was eleven. He graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Toronto and earned his MBA at York University in Toronto. During his studies in Toronto he worked at Canada Trust Bank and it was there that he met Dawn Sexton, who also worked at the bank. They fell in love and married on August 27, 1994 in Ontario. They made their home in Oakville, and in 1995 were blessed with the birth of their son, Jordan, and in 1997 were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Brittany.

Prad and his family had moved with IBM, whom he had worked with for over twenty years, to Madrid, Spain four years ago, and were currently in the process of returning to make their home in Michigan. Whether it was England, Canada, the United States or another country in his travels, wherever he was, he was always comfortable. He loved to travel and enjoyed trips with his wife and children throughout Europe. When he was at home, he loved when everyone was around. Some of his happiest times were when he had family and friends visiting and when he had the opportunity to make his great barbecue. He cared very deeply for all of them.

Prad was very intelligent and Jordan and Brittany never had to look far for help with their homework. He loved hockey and his Toronto Maple Leafs, the Liverpool Football Club, opportunities to golf, and his most recent passion, Formula One racing.

In addition to Dawn, his beloved wife of eighteen years, he leaves his son, Jordan; his daughter, Brittany; his mother, Malu Madhavan; in-laws, George and Winifred Sexton; sister-in-law, Lisa (David) Harrison; brother-in-law, Paul (Shannon) Sexton; nephew, Tommy Sexton; nieces, Sophia and Olivia Sexton, his extended family in India and many colleagues and dear friends who join his family in mourning his passing and giving thanks for his life among them. He was preceded in death by his father, Sethu Madhavan.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, Michigan on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11AM. Friends may visit on Thursday, February 21, 3-9PM and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged in his name to the American Heart Association.
